Day 1: Marrakech – Ouarzazate – Boumalne Dades

Your exciting 4-day desert tour from Marrakech to Merzouga will start early. We will pick you up around 8:00 am at your hotel or Riad. Our first destination will be Kasbah Ait Ben Hadou, but to get there we will cross the Tizi Ntichka Pass and the High Atlas Mountains, passing through Berber villages made of adobe. We will make several stops along the way to take ictures of the landscape, stretch our legs or have a cup of coffee. After a quick stop in Ouarzazate for lunch, we continue to the oasis of Skoura, one of the largest in the Moroccan Sahara Desert, famous for its perfectly restored Kasbah Amridil, which is well worth a visit. Follow the local guide of the Casbah for a tour of the place and discover the Saharan architecture and irrigation techniques used in the nearby oases since medieval times. From there, drive to Boumalne Dades through the Valley of Roses, famous for its Damascus rose plantations and local women’s cooperatives that distill rose water and make rose-based cosmetic products. Before reaching our lodge, we will go to the top of the Dades canyons for a quick visit. Dinner and overnight stay at the Dades Valley lodge.

Day 2: Boumalne Dades – Tinghir  – Merzouga

After an exquisite breakfast, we begin our journey with a drive through the road of 1001 Kasbahs to the oasis village of Tinghir, where you will rejoice in the enchanting ambiance of the Todgha River and feel the urge to stroll along the banks of the river, and meditate on the ancient and particular lifestyle of the Berber villages and Kasbahs, until you found yourself facing the overwhelming landscapes of the massive cliffs of the Todgha Gorges. After a fruitful morning, we head towards the Gorges, where we have lunch. In the afternoon, we continue our journey to Erfoud, famous for its date market and its production of fossilized marble. The next stop will be a visit to the holy city of Rissani, the cradle of the Alaouite dynasty which still reigns over Morocco today. From there we continue to Merzouga. Prepare yourself for an exciting camel ride, while sitting back and enjoying the being surprised by the dunes with changing colors and an exhilarating sunset. Return to your Sahara desert camp where a magical Moroccan dinner awaits you under the stars and by the campfire.
Relax and enjoy your dinner while the local nomads play their music using drums whose sounds penetrate and entertain your soul. After this captivating scenery, settle in for a glamorous night.

Day 3: Merzouga – Nkob – Agdz – Ouarzazate

After an early morning wake-up to admire the sunset and a camel (or jeep) ride, return to the village of Merzouga, meet your driver and prepare for a new day full of visits and adventures. Crossing the volcanic massifs of the north-eastern slope of the Anti-Atlas to the village of Nkob. This is where the road along the legendary Draa Valley begins. You will pass by various mud-brick villages scattered along the valley. In the mid-afternoon, we will arrive at Agdz, which means resting place in Berber, as it was the resting place of the ancient camel caravans that crossed the Sahara Desert in North Africa, from Marrakech to Timboctou. From there you will reach Ouarzazate and spend the night at the hotel.

Day 4: Ouarzazate – Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou – Telout – Marrakesh

After breakfast, we will head west for a short drive to discover the charm of the Berber villages of Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, which is one of the most visited sites in Morocco. It is considered a great example of Moroccan terracotta architecture and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987. It has also been the location of several Hollywood epics, such as Gladiator and Lawrence of Arabia. Enjoy a guided walk through the village before continuing to Telouet, another Kasbah located on the ancient caravan route across the High Atlas from Marrakech to the Sahara Desert. It was built by the former warlord “Elgloui” in the late 19th century. From there we will cross the High Atlas Mountains to Marrakech. End of services
