We will start our day out at 09 am from Marrakech for a 1.30-hour drive south up the Moulay Brahim Gorges. And the Berber village of Asni is very popular for its weekly market every Saturday then to Ait Mizan Valley. Imlil is a small village in the foothills of the highest mountains in Morocco Jbel Toubkal.
Imlil is the center to hire mountain guides and mules due to its unique position. And its connection to several Berber villages and a prevalent starting point for treks and hikes for climbing Toubkal mountain.
Arrival at Imlil here we shall leave our vehicle to start our walk towards the south to the Berber village of Aroumd (1843m) set in the upper-level foothills of the Western High Atlas mountains. a main trailhead with streams and paths branching out in all directions to get our lunch which will be served restaurant/Berber house in the village. Afterward, you can take a short walk before we return to Marrakech.
It should not be confused with Imlil in the Beni Mellal-Khénifra region. Imlil is a rural commune in the Province of Al Haouz, in the Marrakech-Safi region, in Morocco. It notably includes a homonymous village. The film Seven Years in Tibet, released in 1997, was partly shot near the town.
Toubkal National Park is located 70 km south of Marrakech, in the central part of the High Atlas, between the N’Fiss valleys to the west and that of Ourika to the east. Jebel Toubkal, also called the Toubkal massif, is the highest point of the High Atlas with an altitude of 4,167 meters.

This is a wonderful place with a great view, beautiful scenery and a pleasant guide. I had a great time discovering Imlil with Mohamed and I can’t wait to be back and discover more.

Very nice excursion. The guide Mohammed accompanied us on a short hike to the waterfall and the driver Sabir was charming. A short 20-minute camel ride allowing us to take a break on the way there and a visit to a cooperative manufacturing argan oil products on the way back. We originally wanted to see Ourika but Imli is less touristy. Not too many people during the walk which is rather appreciable!

We had a great trip to the Atlas Mountains with our driver Rachid and our guide Abdou. The drive from Marrakech to Imlil and back was already exciting with lots of amazing views and stops to take pictures. On our hike with Rachid we saw two waterfalls and had a nice authentic lunch in a mountain village. I highly recommend this trip if you want to escape the hustle and bustle of Marrakech and get some mountain air!
