The day starts early as we leave Marrakech before 8:00am and our journey will take us through the Atlas Mountains. The rugged beauty and altitude of these peaks will captivate you from our minibus as we wind through the mountain roads.
There are several small Berber villages along the route and we will have the opportunity to stop to take photos of the scenery before heading to Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou. It will take us a few more hours to get here, but the scenery remains spectacular throughout the journey.
Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou is a fortified village that is home to half a dozen market areas and merchant houses. Our tour of this old building will be guided. Like Ouarzazate – which will be the next stop on this tour – Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou is a popular location for film crews and Hollywood production companies.
You will understand exactly why this makes a great setting for a number of films set in biblical times, ancient Arab legends or films set thousands of years ago. Sodom and Gomorrah (1963), The Man Who Would Be King (1975) and The Jewel of the Nile (1985) have all used this old fortified village of Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou.
Our day of adventure then continues to Ouarzazate, where we will tour this city and visit the film studios. Ouarzazate is a popular location for film productions, with many coming here specifically because of the ancient buildings, golden landscapes and stunning scenery. It feels like you are taking a trip back in time as you explore the ancient kasbahs, golden clay buildings and don’t be surprised to see a Hollywood film crew filming a movie here.
Some of the blockbusters filmed here include the James Bond classic, No Play for Killing (1987), Lawrence of Arabia (1962) and The Last Temptation of Christ (1988).

Today we did the Marrakech-Ouarzazate trip, it is a very beautiful trip that I highly recommend, and definitely one of the most beautiful trips you can do around Marrakech. We spent this day with our driver, he is a very competent person at what he does, very fun and attentive to our requests with a touch of humor, you will spend a wonderful day with him.

Nous avons pu apprendre beaucoup de choses et découvrir le Studio Atlas, les produits fabriqués en coopérative à l’huile d’argan, la ville d’ Ait Ben Haddou où les gens sont d’une gentillesse et bienveillants.

The driver guide Issam was great! We start with a panoramic road on which we make several stops to take pictures. Then we stop at Ait Ben Haddou, where we benefit from the visit of a local guide (you can’t enter the historic center without a guide, no matter the excursion). The last stop is at the Atlas studio (the visit costs 8€, it is not mandatory to enter but it is really worth it!)

Very nice day with our guide Ali in Ait Ben Haddou and Ouarzazate. A very nice discovery of these must-see places with an attentive local guide, good driver and a comfortable car. He knew how to perfectly lead this day so that everyone was delighted but also so that we could all recover a little during the trip. Bravo!
