Tour Plan:
Marrakech – Imlil – 1 h 28 min (66,9 km)
We will start our day out at 09 am from Marrakech by a 4WD vehicle or minivan for a 1.30-hour drive south up the Moulay Brahim Gorges. And the Berber village of Asni is very popular for its weekly market every Saturday then to Ait Mizan valley. Imlil is a small village in the foothills of the highest mountains in Morocco Jbel Toubkal.
Imlil is the center to hire mountain guides and mules due to its unique position. And its connection to several Berber villages and a prevalent starting point for treks and hikes for climbing Toubkal mountain.
Arrival at Imlil here we shall leave our vehicle to start our walk towards the south to the Berber village of Aroumd (1843m) set in the upper-level foothills of the Western High Atlas mountains. a main trailhead with streams and paths branching out in all directions to get our lunch which will be served restaurant/Berber house in the village.
Afterward, you can take a short walk before we return to Marrakech.
It should not be confused with Imlil in the Beni Mellal-Khénifra region. Imlil is a rural commune in the Province of Al Haouz, in the Marrakech-Safi region, in Morocco. It notably includes a homonymous village. The film Seven Years in Tibet, released in 1997, was partly shot near the town.
Toubkal National Park is located 70 km south of Marrakech, in the central part of the High Atlas, between the N’Fiss valleys to the west and that of Ourika to the east. Jebel Toubkal, also called the Toubkal massif, is the highest point of the High Atlas with an altitude of 4,167 meters.
