And the Berber village of Asni is very popular for its weekly market every Saturday then to Ait Mizan Valley. Imlil is a small village in the foothills of the highest mountains in Morocco Jbel Toubkal.

Imlil is the center to hire mountain guides and mules due to its unique position. And its connection to several Berber villages and a prevalent starting point for treks and hikes for climbing Toubkal mountain.

Arrival at Imlil we shall leave our vehicle to start our walk towards the south to the Berber village of Aroumd (1843m) set in the upper-level foothills of the Western High Atlas mountains. a main trailhead with streams and paths branching out in all directions to get our lunch which will be served Restaurant/Berber house in the village. Afterward, you can take a short walk before we return to Marrakech.

It should not be confused with Imlil in the Beni Mellal-Khénifra region. Imlil is a rural commune in the Province of Al Haouz, in the Marrakech-Safi region, in Morocco. It notably includes a homonymous village. The film Seven Years in Tibet, released in 1997, was partly shot near the town.

Toubkal National Park is located 70 km south of Marrakech, in the central part of the High Atlas, between the N’Fiss valleys to the west and that of Ourika to the east. Jebel Toubkal, also called the Toubkal massif, is the highest point of the High Atlas with an altitude of 4,167 meters.

That was an excellent experience, I loved everything from the very beginning until the end! I’m happy I went on this trip as I learned a lot about culture, country, and life in the mountains. Thanks a lot!

  2. Kerstin Callanan

Trek Atlas hosted our family ( two late teens) through the Atlas Mountains to some amazing views and waterfalls. Pointing out plants and animals- something to see at every turn. The food was incredible and the people at each place were very welcoming – even the mule Jaclyn was charming. We only had one night. If you stay for three or so you can also trek to Basecamp and the summit of Morocco and North Africa’s highest mountain (Mt Toubkal) from here. Abdou knows the area very well and has all the experience you need to safely explore the Atlas area. Highly recommended. we will be back to stay longer. Thanks, Go Marrakech Desert Trips
